The Ash of War: Troll's Roar is a powerful weapon skill in Elden Ring that allows players to unleash a massive shockwave to push back surrounding enemies. This heavy skill is especially useful for heavy weapon users looking to create space during tough encounters. Acquiring this item requires players to travel deep into one of the late-game regions of the Lands Between.

Where to Find the Troll's Roar Ash of War

To locate this item, players must first gain access to the Mountaintops of the Giants region. The skill itself rests on a corpse sitting atop a massive rock formation located just southeast of the Church of Repose. Players can easily reach this church after navigating past the Leyndell capital and moving through the Forbidden Lands.

Because the area around the church features dangerous enemies like giant hand spiders, approaching cautiously is recommended. The item rests on an elevated giant skull structure that cannot be climbed easily on foot. Fortunately, the surrounding terrain offers a specific environmental mechanic to reach the top effortlessly.

Step-by-Step Guide to Reaching the Skill

After reaching the Church of Repose Site of Grace, ride your mount south toward the cliffs behind the structure. As you move along the southern path, look out for a Spiritspring jump point situated near the base of the rocks. Using Torrent to leap straight into this updraft will launch you into the air toward the giant skull.

Aim your jump so that you land directly on top of the massive skull rock. Once landed, interact with the corpse lying on the surface to pick up the Ash of War: Troll's Roar. After securing the item, you can immediately equip it at any Site of Grace.

Combat Effects and Weapon Compatibility

When activated, Troll's Roar consumes FP to let out an intense roar that generates a powerful surrounding shockwave, knocking back foes. Pressing the heavy attack button right after the roar triggers a follow-up heavy downward slam with your weapon. This follow-up strike deals massive physical and stance damage to enemy posture.

This skill provides the Heavy affinity and scales efficiently with Strength-focused character builds. It can be applied to large weaponry, including Greatswords, Colossal Swords, Greataxes, Great Hammers, and Colossal Weapons. Pairing this skill with the Roar Medallion or Shard of Alexander can significantly boost its total damage output.
